BEZUIDENHOUT, KRISTIAN & FBO & GOTTF

In januari 1783 laat Wolfgang Mozart in een advertentie in de Wiener Zeitung weten, dat hij drie pianoconcerten heeft geschreven. Het bijzondere van deze drie concerten is dat ze ook kunnen worden uitgevoerd door een strijkkwartet. Mozart schrijft zijn vader dat de liefhebbers van schone kunsten zullen genieten. Maar ook de niet kenners, ook al weten zij niet waarom ze de muziek mooi vinden. De verkoop van partituren blijft wat achter, maar uiteindelijk oogst Mozart met deze concerten veel waardering. De keizer blijkt K415 bijzonder te kunnen waarderen. Kristian Bezuidenhout legt deze drie werken met de Freiburger Barockorchester onder leiding van Gottfried von der Goltz prachtig vast. Het zou heel goed mogelijk zijn, dat de componist met deze uitvoeringen in zijn nopjes is.

In January 1783 Mozart advertised in the Vienna press "the publication of three new, recently completed piano concertos", which could even be played with quartet accompaniment – thus enabling him to reach a wider public. In similar vein, he told his father that they were "very brilliant and pleasing to the ear . . . Here and there only connoisseurs will derive satisfaction from them – yet in such a way that the non-connoisseur will also be pleased, without knowing why."

It’s a fair bet that these dazzling performances by Kristian Bezuidenhout and the Freiburger Barockorchester will meet with the same unanimous approval.
