Veertig jaar heeft het geduurd voordat we nu eindelijk de soundtrack van Nicolas Roeg’s film kunnen beluisteren. Hoofdrolspeler David Bowie was contractueel niet in staat om de muziek te leveren, waardoor de honneurs werden waargenomen door Stomu Yamashta, die later met Steve Winwood in Go zou opereren, en John Phillips van The Mama’s & The Papa’s, die op zijn beurt Mick Taylor te hulp riep. Sferische oosterse percussiestukken worden afgewisseld met Californische country rock, een wonderlijke maar intrigerende belevenis, waarmee het perfect aansluit op de film.
