HITNRUN PHASE ONE
REISSUE
LP - Black Vinyl (2026 Reissue)
NPG Records and Paisley Park Enterprises in partnership with Legacy Recordings celebrate the 10th anniversary of Prince’s HITnRUN phase one and HITnRUN phase two. Available on vinyl, for the first time, and back on CD.
Prince first used the term “Hit n Run” to describe pop-up shows that he would perform throughout his career. In the summer of 2015, Prince announced that he would release an album by the same name — and that “things were about to get experimental, weird, and super funky.”
Released on September 7, 2015, HITnRUN phase one was Prince’s 38th studio album that featured all new material and was recorded in the two years leading up to release. It was primarily a collaboration with Joshua Welton and marked the first time that Prince worked with a co-producer. There were also contributions from THIRDEYEGIRL, Rita Ora, Judith Hill, Lianne La Havas and Curly Fryz. The album peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and at 70 on the Billboard 200.
