Producer Dave Hamilton vergaarde vanaf eind jaren 60 faam binnen het experimentele funkcircuit. In zijn studio in Detroit ontwikkelde Hamilton, eveneens sessiemuzikant, een soort rauwe lo-fi funk, die tegelijkertijd ook soulvol klinkt en ruimte biedt aan psychedelische invloeden. En in latere jaren ook een beetje disco, zoals Who van Jackie Dee. De meeste opnamen op deze Ace-compilatie zijn verdraaid lastig te pakken te krijgen en verschenen nog niet eerder op cd (11 van de 22). Zoals Hard Times van O.C. Tolbert en I’ll Take My Flowers Right Now van The Barrino Brothers. We horen Hamilton ook zelf, op de instrumentale tracks Ghetto Stride en Party Time. Net als het in 2006 verschenen Dave Hamilton's Detroit Funk geeft dit album een fraaie dwarsdoorsnede van Hamiltons nog altijd prettig in het gehoor liggende producties uit de periode 1969-1979.
