ITALIAN CANTATAS

Tijdens en naar aanleiding van zijn verblijf in Italië aan het begin van de 18e eeuw schreef Händel zijn Italiaanse cantates. Vaak dienden deze als bron voor zijn latere opera's. Drie van deze cantates, aangevuld met een triosonate, worden op deze cd door drie vrouwen krachtig neergezet. Zowel apart als samen klinken fraaie lijnen met de nodige Italiaanse expressiviteit. Zowel Devieilhe als Desandre schitteren met helderheid en laten de emoties stromen als een grote waterval. Dan weer hardvochtig, soms lieflijk en afwachtend maar altijd vol passie. Natuurlijk mag ook de voortreffelijke begeleiding van dirigente Haïm niet onvermeld blijven.
